Where does the event take place?
The Wedding Party Experience goes down at Margaret Place Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana. The address is 1133 Margaret Place.
Is it indoors or outdoors?
The party takes place entirely outdoors in Margaret Place's dreamy courtyard under the stars.
What time is the event and when should I arrive?
The event begins promptly at 8 pm. Entrance after 8:15 pm is not guaranteed and will be subject to discretion of the venue and security team. We recommend arriving between 7:30-7:45 to ensure you can check in and grab a drink before the festivities begin!
How much are tickets and where do I get them?
Tickets are $60 (plus service fees) and are only available on our website. Tickets will not be sold at the door, but you can always whip out your phone and buy them on your way to the venue.
What should I wear?
Semiformal wedding attire! We want your cocktail or evening dresses, your jackets and ties, etc. Don't forget to dress with the weather in mind, as the party is outdoors. If it is chilly, heat lamps (and lots of dancing!) will keep the area toasty.
What's the parking situation?
There's no parking lot, but there's plenty of street parking in the area. We recommend taking an Uber or Lyft for safety and convenience.
Is Margaret Place ADA-accessible?
Yes!
Are there food and drinks?
Of course! Drinks can be purchased from Margaret Place's fully-stocked bar. Light hors d'oeuvres and wedding cake are complimentary.
How long is the event?
The event runs from 8-11 pm. The brief theatrical vignettes are spaced about 30-45 minutes apart, with all-out wedding dancing in between. So while the entire event is 3 hours, the immersive theatre elements only run about 40 minutes total.
I don't get it. Is it a dance party or a theatre show?
It's both! The Wedding Party Experience is an upscale, themed dance party with all the trappings of a wedding reception...except the wedding. The majority of the evening is centered on the dance party element - we've got a wedding DJ playing all your favorite wedding hits (get ready to Cha Cha Slide, y'all), passed hors d'oeuvres, and cocktails from the cash bar. Throughout the evening, you'll learn about the absent bride and groom and the ill-fated ceremony through a series of bite-sized vignettes performed by a company of professional actors and improvisers.
Wait, why isn't there a bride and groom?
We've taken all the best things about a wedding (the dancing, the drinking, the party!) and tossed the worst (the tension, the emotional baggage, the hierarchy). With no two people at the center of the day, it becomes what we think is the best kind of party: a democracy! The Wedding Party Experience is about you. It's about all of us, throwing down and having a good time like only New Orleanians can.
'Immersive theatre' turns me off. Am I gonna get pulled into a scene?
Nope, not our vibe. We hope you join in dancing with the cast members as they pull people en masse out to the dancefloor, but you'll never find yourself the center of attention if you don't want to be.
